HENLEY - Constance Henley Knox at Back Creek Cemetery
My visit to Back Creek Church and Cemetery on Memorial Day 2008. My ancestor are buried here but most of their tombstones are missing.
The Quaker Pastor at the Back Creek Church told me that there were lots of headstones removed from this area of the cemetery because it was against Quaker rules to have your full name on your tombstone. It was considered to self-serving to have your name and that only initials were allowed at the time. So many headstones were removed by the church. So while there are large areas of this cemetery that appear to be open I was informed that this cemetery is full.
